This is a great day out for all the family. It is one of the finest castles in Aberdeenshire. The castle stands in 350 acres of beautiful farmland. This castle took shape between 1575 and 1636.

Children can play safely amongst wooden sculptures, a bamboo snake, musical instruments, tepees, a tree house and a stone circle in the Woodland Secrets area near the castle.

The castle is out in the remote area of Strathdon. This castle has been completely restored to its original status.
The castle was built in the 16th century. It was last occupied in 1912 by two sisters, called the Castle Ladies.

Corgarff was used by the Jacobites as supply storage, for powder, muskets and ammunition.

The Castle tragedy of 1571.
A troop of men led by Adam Gordon went to take the castle, for Mary Queen of Scots. The laird was and his wife, Margaret Forbes, refused entry to the men. Adam Gordon then attacked the castle and set it on fire causing the inhabitants to burn to death. Approximately 24 people died in the fire.

To the left is the corner of the distillery. Its last military use housed the English Redcoats who had the unpopular task of combating whisky smuggling.
